What happened
The official photos were retouched so heavily that the Sachertorte delegation appears in three of them, smiling, beside the Slop-Torte. A letter followed. The committee replied with a photo of the letter, retouched to say 'Congratulations'. Carl Sagan asked for one picture with nobody in it at all, and it is the most honest image in the archive.
